===Is Continuing Review Required Under 45 CFR 46.109(f)===
**Expedited Review (§46.110):**
  * The HHS Secretary maintains a list of minimal-risk research categories eligible for expedited IRB review, updated every 8 years.
  * IRBs may use expedited review for eligible minimal-risk studies, minor changes to approved research, or specific exemptions requiring limited IRB review.
  * The review can be conducted by the IRB chair or designated reviewers, but disapproval requires full IRB review. IRBs must inform members of expedited approvals, and federal agencies may restrict expedited review procedures.

**Exempt Research (§46.104):**
Certain research activities are exempt, including:
  * Studies in educational settings using normal practices.
  * Non-identifiable educational tests, surveys, interviews, or public behavior observations.
  * Benign behavioral interventions with prior adult consent, provided no significant risks or identifiers are involved.
  * Secondary research using publicly available or non-identifiable private data.
  * Federally approved research on public benefits or services.
  * Taste and food quality studies involving safe food.
  * Storage or secondary research with identifiable data requires broad consent, documentation, and limited IRB review.
